EASF Reviews Its Strategic Plan
EASF began the process of reviewing its Strategic Plan on 15th March 2018 at the International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC) in Karen, Nairobi, Kenya.
The Strategic Plan is a six year road map that provides an indication on how EASF intends to conduct its affairs in terms of prioritization and allocation of resources. It also serves as a tool to ensure continuity of the achievements and progress of the organization. EASF is focusing on reviewing the 2015 - 2020 plan by critically examining and revising the objectives and outputs. This will provide a basis to outline activities that will support the overall EASF mandate of promoting peace and security. The plan is developed in line with the African Union's Maputo Strategic Plan 2015 - 2020.
The meeting was chaired by the Dr Abdillahi Omar Bouh, Director, EASF. In his opening remarks, Dr Abdillahi said, "the vision contained in our strategic plan focuses on transforming EASF from a hypothetical arrangement into a credible regional organisation for ensuring peace and security and in line with the African Union Peace and Security Architecture (APSA)." He expressed optimism that the strategic plan would facilitate capacity for EASF to attain its objectives.
Other participating EASF staff included Brigadier Albert Kendagor, Head of Peace Operations Department; Col Letebrhan Kahsay, Head of Finance and Administration; Maj Gen Charles Rudakubana, Joint Chief of Staff; Brig Gen Alaadin Mirghani, Force Commander; Mr Steve Lalande, Head of Civilian Component; Col Jean Barumpishe, Military Chief of Staff, Colonel Richard Welsh as well as EASF Technical Advisors Col Ewen Turner and staff from various departments.
