AU, COMESA & EASF Release Joint Preliminary Statement on Comoros Elections

The much anticipated Joint Preliminary Statement was delivered on the 25th of March 2019, one day after polling day,tolocal and international press, members of the election commission (CENI), local and international election observer

missions, members of the diplomatic community, government officials and NGO groups.The Elections Observations Mission to the Union of Comoros released a Joint Preliminary Statement on 24th March 2019, immediately after the conduct of Presidential and Gubernatorial elections in the Union of Comoros.

The Heads of Missions who delivered the Joint Preliminary Statement were:

  • H.E. Patrice Emery Trovoada (Ex Prime Minister of Sao Tome and Principe) on behalf of the African Union.
  • H.E. Lt General (rtd) Germain Niyoyankana (Ex Minister of Defence of Burundi) on behalf of Eastern Africa Standby Force.
  • H.E. Madame Hope Kivengere (Former spokesperson for the President of Uganda, and member of Panel of Elders of COMESA) on behalf of COMESA.
