15th Ordinary Meeting of EACDS

The 15th Session of the Eastern Africa Committee of Defence and Security Council commenced today in Nairobi, Kenya. It brings together Chiefs of Defence Staff from the ten member states of EASF.

In her opening statement, Hon Amb Raychelle Omamo, who was the guest of honour, expressed appreciation of the Chiefs of Defence for their commitment and continued support. She reiterated the urgent need for EASF to become a credible tool for regional peace and security. [Statement]

The Chair of the Committee of Eastern Africa Chiefs of Defence, Gen Julius Karangi emphasised to the participants, their responsibility as Chiefs of Defence in overseeing programmes and activities of EASF. He encouraged them to address all the challenges that may slow down the progress of EASF in its preparation towards Full Operational Capability. All member states attended. [Statement]
