EASF Conducts FTX 2017's After Action Review

The Eastern Africa Standby Force launched a three day After Action Review (AAR) for the Field Training Exercise (FTX) 2017 code named Mashariki Salaam II at the Kenya Commercial Bank Leadership Center, in Karen, Nairobi on 27th March 2018.

Mashariki Salaam II was a multi-national and multi-dimensional exercise which took place from 20th November to 6th December in Gebeit Region, near Port Sudan in the Republic of the Sudan. It comprised 1029 participants from military, police and civilian backgrounds from EASF Member States and partner countries. The exercise aimed at achieving the organization's objective of maintaining a well-trained and regularly exercised force, ready to conduct peace keeping missions in the Eastern Africa region and beyond in the most effective way possible, when and if tasked or mandated to do so by the African Union.  

The ongoing AAR which comes to a close on 29th March 2018 seeks to identify gaps as well as bring out factors that could have negatively impacted the general performance of the exercise. Proper identification of such factors will enable the regional peace-keeper conduct more streamlined trainings in future, which will in turn affect the efficiency of conducting Peace Support Operations (PSOs).

Among those attending the AAR include the EASF Director, Dr Abdillahi Omar Bouh, two representatives from African Union's Peace Support Operations Division's (AU PSOD), Members of EASF Management, EASF Heads of Structures and Components, Heads of Cells during Mashariki Salaam II, representative from EASF Member States, EASF Staff and Technical Advisors from Partner Countries.
