Youth for Peace Seminar Concludes with Environmental Commitment in Mogadishu, Somalia

Youth for Peace Seminar ConcludesThe Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) successfully concluded its Youth for Peace seminar focused on peace and environmental conservation from October 28 to 30, 2024. The event culminated in a tree-planting initiative, where participants planted 50 trees, symbolizing their commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development. The closing ceremony featured prominent figures, including Mr. Ali Adan Hassan, Acting Director General of the Ministry of Defence, and Admiral Abdi Warsame Osman, Navy Commander. Mr. Ali Adan welcomed the EASF team, expressing Somalia’s readiness to host future EASF activities and highlighting the crucial role of youth in fostering peace and development in the region.

Children and Armed Conflict CourseThe Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) has successfully concluded a Children and Armed Conflict Course aimed at enhancing member states' capabilities to address the urgent issue of children affected by armed conflict. The course, which took place from October 14 to October 25, 2024, attracted military, police, and civilian participants from ten EASF member states. Held at the United Nations Regional Service Centre in Entebbe, the course focused on deepening participants' understanding of conflict dynamics and their impact on children, while fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing among attendees.
