EASF Day Ethiopia

 EASF conducted an Open Day in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 14th November 2015.

This single-day event was graced by the Minister for Defence of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Mr. Siraj Fegessa.

The Director of EASF, Amb. Issimail Chanfi thanked the Government of Ethiopia for hosting the event which was the first of its kind in the country ever.

Barely an year ago, Ethiopia had hosted the EASF Mashariki Salaam Command Post Expercise (CPX) 2014, another remarkable milestone in the organization's achievements after which EASF was declared fully operational.

The Director finally invited the guest of honor to address the participants.

In his opening remarks, the Defence Minister thanked the participants for availing themselves to participate in this important event. He then requested all present to stand up and observe a moment of silence in honor of all peacekeepers who have sacrificed their lives while serving in AMISOM. He continued to highlight the humble aspiration of EASF towards ensuring that conflicts within the region are resolved amicably and in due time. He thanked EASF for organizing the event during which all participants had gained more knowledge in the dynamics of the organization.   

The event was conducted as part of the efforts to create awareness of EASF and increase its visibility in the region and beyond. Participants included Senior Government officials from the Federal Republic of Ethiopia, representatives from various Departments of the Ministry of Defence, Ethiopia,  Members of the Diplomatic Corps, Media houses and civilians.
