The session aimed to evaluate the achievements of EASF in the past ten years, to identify operational gaps and determine ways to effectively implement the plan as stipulated in the African Peace Support Architecture and ASF Road map III.  The meeting also identified specific activities to help meet Full Operational Capability (FOC) by 2015.

The Director of EASFCOM officially opened the three day session which was attended by representatives from various EASF structures, components and departments.

In his opening remarks, the Director observed that most of the EASF staff tasked with the responsibility to lead the process to FOC were new. He called upon all participants to make an effort to develop good understanding of FOC, conduct good assessment of their respective areas in order to develop a realistic activity plan.  He reiterated that the staff rotation approach should not be considered a setback to the process of FOC as each staff member is required to write a comprehensive report on completion of their term for handover to their successor.

In conclusion, the Director called upon staff to project the success of their work based on commitment, accountability, cohesion and faith.
