EASF Director Makes a Call on EAC

The Director of Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF), Brig Gen Getachew Shiferaw Fayisa paid a Courtesy Call on the East African Community (EAC) Secretary General Hon. Dr. Peter Mathuki in Arusha, Tanzania, on Tuesday, 12 April 2022.

The aim of the visit was to bolster cooperation and relations between the two regional organizations. The two organizations are both working in the Eastern Africa region with common vision. While EASF works on enhancing peace and security in the region, EAC works on economic development. As peace and economic development are intertwined, there is a need for the two organizations to work together. It is with this spirit that the two organizations are endeavoring to strengthen their relationships. The two sides discussed on a number of issues and decided to sign a Memorandum of Understanding in the near future in order to uplift their existing relations.

The EASF Director was accompanied by the PLANELM Joint Chief of Staff Brig Gen (PSC) Dr. Osman  and the Military Assistant to the Director, L Col Bonaface Chomba.
