EASF HANDS Plan Legal Operationalization Workshop Underway

EASF is conducting a Humanitarian Action and Disaster Support (HANDS) plan legal operationalization workshop at Weston Hotel in Nairobi Kenya. The workshop was opened officially by the EASF Joint Chief of Staff, Maj Gen (PSC) Dr. Osman Mohamed Abbas on 17 October 2022.

It is recalled that EASF generated its HANDS response plan in July this in the Republic of Sudan. The objective of this workshop is to develop a legal framework for operationalizing the response plan. Furthermore, the workshop intends to advance the EASF region towards establishing a common understanding and approach on disaster and pandemic situations within the Eastern African Region.

The three-day workshop is expected to come up with a legal roadmap for operationalizing a regional HANDS response plan. The workshop will come to conclusion on 19 October 2022.
