EASF Takes Part in Comoros President's Inauguration Ceremony

The EASF Director, Dr. Abdilahi Omar Bouh represented the organization during the inauguration of President Azali Assoumani in Moroni, Comoros on 26th May 2019. Earlier, the Government of the Union of Comoros had invited EASF to take part in elections' observations in March 2019.

During the event, attended by dignitaries from many parts of the world, the President underscored the importance of national harmony and unity with contenders who lost the elections held in March this year. He promised to extend an olive branch and build a sound foundation, upon which a robust economy can thrive.

President Azali has put oil revenue at the centre of his development plans, vowing to make the Comoros an emerging economy by the year 2030.

The Union of Comoros, comprising three key Islands, is one of the ten Member States which make up the Eastern Africa Standby Force.
