EASF Red Cross Visit

The Eastern Africa Standby Force Coordination Mechanism (EASFCOM) Staff Financial Contribution to Victims of Attack on Westgate Mall, Nairobi, Kenya

The Eastern Africa Standby Force Coordination Mechanism (EASFCOM) presents its compliments to the Secretary General, Kenya Red Cross and has the honour to convey EASFCOM Staff contribution as well as our deepest sympathies and condolences to the victims of the terrorists attack on Westgate Mall in Nairobi -Kenya. 

On behalf of the Eastern Africa Standby Force Member States, EASFCOM condemns the desperate and cowardly act by terrorists on innocent civilians in the strongest terms possible.

EASFCOM condoles with the bereaved families, relatives and friends of the people who lost their lives in the heinous attack. May Almighty God give them strength and courage during these sad moments. We wish the injured victims quick recovery.

EASFCOM recognizes and commends the great efforts and coordination by the Kenya Red Cross during the rescue operations. Indeed the timely intervention helped save many lives and ameliorated the suffering of those injured.

We further commend the solidarity, courage, determination and resilient spirit exhibited by the people of Kenya at this trying moment.

In solidarity and in the spirit of togetherness, EASFCOM staff sends their humble contribution of Kshs. 641,200 (Six hundred and forty one thousand, two hundred) towards expenses incurred on this unfortunate incident. 

The Eastern Africa Standby Force is one of the five African Standby Forces whose mandate is to promote and enhance peace and security in the Eastern Africa region and beyond under the auspices of the African Union.
