Category: News

The EASF Director Brig. Gen. Getachew Fayisa held talks with Commander Takao Katsumata who is the Defence Attache at the Embassy of Japan, at the Secretariat in Karen, Nairobi, on 27th May 2021.

The meeting focused on possible areas of mutual cooperation between the Government of Japan and the regional peace-keeper. These include, capacity building through personnel training, infrastructure and transport. Such initiatives will go a long way in supporting the readiness as well as the Full Operational Capability status attained by EASF in 2014.

Also attending the meeting were the Head of Peace Operations' Department Brig. Gen. Henry Isoke and the Military Assistant, Lt. Col. Boniface Chomba.

Japan, which is one of economically affluent countries that form the "Friends of EASF", has been supporting the Standby Force ever since its inception in 2004.
