Burundi CDF and EASF Director Hold Talks

Category: News

In preparations for the upcoming Policy Organs' Meetings to be held in July in Bujumbura Burundi, the Director Dr. Abdillahi Omar Bouh, held a consultative meeting with the Burundi Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Prime Niyongabo in Bujumbura on 31st May 2019.

The Republic of Burundi is now chairing the EASF Policy Organs; these are the highest decision making organs in the organizational hierarchy of the Standby Force.

Now that EASF has been placed by the African Union as the Continental Standby Force with effect from July to December 2019, it is imperative that all decision makers are duly informed of the preparedness and the respective road-map to accomplish this task. During this period, EASF will be responsible for rolling out Peace Support Operations should conflict situations arise in any part of the African continent. Another point discussed at length with Lt. Gen. Niyongabo was on the key areas the next Policy Organs Meetings could consider.

Dr. Bouh's itinerary on Monday 3rd June 2019 will see him head northwards into the neighboring Rwanda, to brief the recently appointed Minister for Defence Major General Albert Murasira and the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Patrick Nyamvumba on the above matters.
