Statement by Eastern Africa Standby Force on the Situation In The Republic Of The Sudan
The Republic of the Sudan and international actors have been engaging with great progress in offering different perspectives on overcoming the current political crisis and it was envisaged that a final Political Agreement was be signed earlier in April, which was to allow the Republic of the Sudan to restore democratic transition and end the crisis. Unfortunately, the unresolved disagreement between the Sudanese Military Forces and the Rapid Support Forces has led to postponement of the signing of the Political Agreement and triggered the current unfortunate escalation of crisis.
EASF Management Retreat in Mombasa
The Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) conducted from 17th March in Mombasa (Kenya) of a two-days Executive Management Retreat themed “Strengthening EASF Mandate and Performance in the Region”. The main purpose of the Retreat was to provide Management Team with a platform to reflect and evaluate the Organization in order to assess how well it is achieving its goals.
Enhancing coordination for the Police Component
The Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) conducted a Police Points of Contact (PPOC) workshop in Mombasa, Kenya, from 9th – 12th March 2023. The aim was to update the nine Member States represented on the achievements, progress and challenges of EASF Police component and the need to keep an updated Police database.

The opening ceremony of a Joint Seminar by the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) and Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) took place in Mogadishu, Somalia on Monday 6th March, 2023.
EASF Senior Management Work Visit to ATMIS
Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) Director of the Secretariat, Brig Gen Getachew Shiferaw Fayisa led on 5th March an EASF Delegation to Mogadishu. The objective is to strengthen the collaboration and the cooperation with the key stakeholders in Somalia.
31e Réunion Ordinaire des Organes Décisionnelles de l’EASF
La 31e réunion ordinaire des organes décisionnelles de la Force en Attente de l'Afrique de l'Est a eu lieu à Addis-Abeba en Ethiopie du 9 au 14 février 2023. Après le groupes d’experts (EWG) entre le 9 et le 11 février, suivi des Chefs de Défense et de Sécurité de l’Afrique de l’Est (EASCDS) les 12 et 13 février, le Conseil des Ministres de la Défense et de la Sécurité s'est tenue le 14 février 2023, sous la présidence de SE Dr Abraham Belay de la République Fédérale Démocratique d'Ethiopie.
31st Ordinary Policy Organs EACDS Meeting
The Committee of the Eastern Africa Chiefs of Defence and Security (EACDS) was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from 12th to 13th February, 2023, as part of the 31st Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) Policy Organs Meetings.
EASF Policy Organs Experts Working Group (EWG)
The Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) concluded, on 11 February 2023 at Skylight Hotel Addis-Ababa, Ethiopia, a three-day meeting of its Experts Working Group (EWG) Meeting as part of the 31st Policy Organs Meetings.
