Director Briefs Top Burundi Defence Officials

The EASF Director Dr Abdillahi Omar Bouh held a consultative meeting with the Burundi Minister for Defense and Former Combatants, Mr Emmanuel Ntahomvukiye as well as the Chief of National Defence Forces of Burundi,  Lt Gen Prime Niyongabo in Bujumbura, Burundi on 25th March 2019.

The position of the Chair of the Council of Ministers for Defence and Security of the Eastern Africa region is rotated among EASF Member States on periodical basis; the Republic of Burundi is now chairing this noble position. During this period, the Minister for Defence and Former Combatants will chair the Council of Ministers meetings which form part of the EASF Policy Organs Meetings. As such, it was imperative that the Director briefs the defence officials on matters pertaining to the successful conduct of these meetings.

The other matter on the agenda was updating the Minister and the Chief of National Defence Forces on the progress the Standby Force has been making in the recent past.

On this trip to Bunjumbura, Dr. Bouh was accompanied by the EASF Human Resource Officer, Lt. Colonel Viator Niyonyabo.
