French Forces in Djibouti Visit EASF
A delegation of three from French Forces in Djibouti, led by the Commandant of the Force, Major General Eric Gernez visited the EASF Secretariat in Karen, Nairobi on Monday 29th April 2019.
Receiving the visitors at the Secretariat, the EASF Director Dr. Abdillahi Omar Bouh expressed his appreciation of the interest shown by the French Forces in the activities of the regional peace-keeper. Dr. Bouh further acknowledged the support and assistance the Government and people of the French Republic have extended to the states in Eastern Africa Region.
During the briefing session, the Head of Peace Operations' Department Brigadier Albert Kendagor walked the guests along the metamorphosis' path EASF has taken ever since its inception in 2004. Brigadier Kendagor further informed the delegation that the regional peace-keeper has once again been placed on continental standby by the African Union with effect from July 2019.
The Republic of Djibouti, which is one of EASF's ten Member States, plays a key role in regional maritime security around the Gulf of Aden.
